Round 1

Reserves - Took a little while to get going and had to play catch up from there. Some good signs were shown but we need to lift for the weeks ahead. KJ Choi was good all day and the new boys showed that they will all be handy additions.

Seniors - A disappointing start to the year, after a good contest all day, with plenty of chances we failed to halt Sandown and just couldn't get the job done! With Hodgey at his best and the new boys showing plenty of promise. Let's take this loss on board and move forward. It all starts on the track so let’s get there and do the work boys.

Congratulations to Josh "Moe Sizlak" Burley on notching up his 100th game.

Juniors - Sunday was a proud moment to see 13 little champions run out for Ashwood today for the first time in over twenty years.

We drew East Malvern for our first game, a strong club with over 27 junior teams, obviously a team with greater experience and with ours boys being lower age under 9’s we quickly learned that we had to be more aggressive and to be first in for the ball.

Our boys showed great determination and pride and played the game out to the end, showing tremendous sportsmanship and team spirit. We will only be better for the experience.

I would like to thank East Malvern for lending players and a big thank-you to all our support staff and parents for being so actively involved. The guys had a great time and started friendships that will endure more than one loss.

We play our first home game this Sunday at 9.30am looking forward to seeing everyone there.
